If clutter is a problem in your home then decorative storage boxes can be a great way to get everything organized. You can safely store away the things that you need to keep, while still keeping the room looking clean and tidy.

There is a wide selection of decorative storage boxes available to purchase. However, it may be a better idea to try to make your own. Not only is this more cost effective, but it can also help you to eliminate other clutter too.

Finding an Adequate Box

Most homes have at least one suitable box that can be turned into a decorative storage box. Shoe boxes and even tool boxes can be transformed into great storage solutions. If you do have a spare shoe box then you have a number of options. Firstly you can give it a coat of paint. Or you could cover it with wallpaper. Stickers and stencils can also be used to give it a unique design. It is potentially the easiest box to work with.

One option if you have a little money to spare and you would like a project to take part in, is stained glass boxes. You can purchase everything that you need from a local hobby and craft store. You will need to learn how to make stained glass windows. Then all that you need to do is make four miniature windows and connect them together to create a nice storage box for jewelry.

Finally a cheap storage box to make is a magazine storage box. You can use a magazine to cut out two pieces of cardboard. You need it to be the same height as the magazine. These will be the sides of the box. You then need to determine how wide you need the box to be. Consider how many magazines you plan to store in it. Then cut out a piece of cardboard for the back and the front. Ideally you should make the front of the magazine box lower than the rest of the box. It should be at least 5 inches tall.

These are just some of the ways that you can create your own storage boxes. It can be quite fun decorating storage boxes. You could easily get the kids to join in and help you one rainy afternoon.

Took me days of shopping around for the best decorative storage boxes for my home improvement project. I gave up and ended up making my own. It’s not that there aren’t any good looking ones out there but the designs can be very limited especially if you’re home is sporting a unique design as well. Kudos on your post.
