Different Types of Beds Available – Part Two
There are so many different types of beds available to choose from these days. In the first part of this topic we covered adjustable, fold away and bunk beds. In this section we are going to look into canopy, futon and sleigh beds.
Canopy beds are also otherwise known as four poster beds in some countries. They are considered to be one of the most romantic types of beds available. If you add a canopy bed to your room then it will look really stylish and elegant. It gives off a luxury feel and you will find that many hotels use them for effect.
The most popular types of canopy beds are queen or king size ones. The bed is basically covered with a cloth canopy. When you buy a canopy bed you will not typically get the bedding that is shown with it.
This type of bed is popular with those who do not have much space in the home. It basically folds into a chair or sofa during the day and folds out into a bed when you need it to. They are commonly used in guest rooms for unexpected visitors. The Japanese use them as a traditional form of bedding.
These days, futon beds tend to have a metal or wooden frame with a very thin mattress.
Sleigh beds are really popular in America. They were designed by an American Craftsman in the 19th Century. The headboard on the bed is larger than the footboard. Both boards have a curved design to give the bed the look of a sleigh. They come in a wide variety of designs and they add a unique and fun feel to the room.
Out of the above three beds, the sleigh bed is definitely the most popular in the US, followed by the futon and then the canopy.
